You may have seen the leaf icon on our website, social media, and other platforms, it’s meaning has a story that goes all the way back to the early days of the firm.
When Founding Attorney Ashley Pepitone was developing the logo and theme for Pepitone Family Law, she reached out to dozens of graphic artists around the world. Some of the designs were great, but they just weren’t giving Ashley that “yes, that’s it.” feeling.
That was until she saw the leaf logo.
Around this same time, Ashley’s former college roommate was in the thick of a divorce and having difficulties. The roommate shared on Facebook that her daughter was really struggling – even a simple photo of their “old life” would bring the little girl to tears. The former roommate was a child of divorce and didn’t want those same experiences for her own daughter. Ashley comforted her roommate with these words:
“You know how forest fires are these huge, scary destructive things that can absolutely destroy everything? These big destructive events also have beauty. They help open pine cones to release their seeds and provide nutrients for other plants to grow. It doesn’t happen right away, it takes a really, really long time for trees and plants to start growing again, but when they do… oh man, they are so much stronger and so beautiful! So, even though it’s going to take us some time… we are those trees. We are getting stronger and growing, and there is going to be so much beauty in all of this destruction. I absolutely promise you this.”
There are some moments in our lives that can absolutely destroy us if we let them. But these moments can also plant a seed in us, helping us turn a new leaf, embracing growth and beauty. It’s not easy. It takes time, care, and patience.
